The West Central Valley School District is showing some enrollment decreases according to this year’s certified enrollment report.
Each year the report is tabulated on October 1st and then submitted by public school districts on October 15th. The number of actual enrolled students for West Central Valley decreased by 12.34 this year to 950.10. This contrasts from last year’s boost of 49.04 students. The number of resident students attending another school district decreased by 13.9, which Business Manager Symantha Crawford explained at the recent School Board meeting, that change wouldn’t affect the district’s funding, since that money goes from them to other districts anyways.
The number of resident students attending West Central Valley increased by two this year, which the previous year saw an increase of 29.9, and the number of non-resident students attending West Central Valley decreased by five this year, compared to a six student increase last year. A positive this year is an increase in Pre-K students by 3.5, compared to a one student decrease last year. The total number of school age students provided instruction by the district decreased by 3.44, compared to an increase of 35.84 last year.
