It’s the weekend before Halloween, which means there are several community events today and tomorrow throughout Dallas County.
For starters, the Perry Hy-Vee is hosting a kids Halloween event today from 1-3 p.m., with free holiday bags, a coloring station, and mini pumpkin and cookie decorating. In DeSoto, the Fire and EMS Departments are hosting a Zombie Fun Run from 2-3 p.m., with registration starting at noon. Cost is $35 per person, and the race will commence at Little Bridge Park. DeSoto Fire and EMS will then join the public library for the annual free Halloween Party in the Park event from 4-6 p.m.
Also today, Dallas Center will have Halloween festivities on Walnut Street from 3:30-5:30 p.m., a haunted house at the library from 4-5:30 p.m., and citywide Trick-or-Treating from 6-8. Meanwhile, the Woodward Fire Department’s soup supper and hay rack ride will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the fire station, and Woodward-Granger High School will host a “Trunk-or-Treat” event from 5:30-8 p.m. The final event tonight will be the annual Haunted Hallways at Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School from 7-9 p.m., hosted by the high school speech team and yearbook class. The cost is $5 per person, and the event is designed for older students and adults who want to be scared.
As for tomorrow, the City of Dawson will hold citywide Trick-or-Treating from 2-4 p.m., followed by the return of the annual Halloween Party from 4-6 at the Community Building. Finally, Faith Lutheran Church and Preschool in Adel will host a “Trunk-or-Treat” from 4:30-6 p.m., which will include a costume contest. Also a reminder: the first annual Raccoon River Pet Rescue “Howl-o-ween” will be tomorrow from 1-4 p.m. at the Perry Dog Park, with the Raccoon Valley Radio Big Red Radio in attendance for the event.
