The processes have all be completed, and Progressive Foundry in Perry is ready to begin construction on their expansion project. That means the block of 2nd Street between Bateman and Rawson streets has officially been closed for good.
The City Council recently approved the sale of the right-of-way to the Foundry, which was also vacated earlier this year. The road closure is just a block away from the primary downtown area in Perry. However, the City doesn’t believe it will disrupt the public much since motorists have typically avoided the roads around the Foundry due to the heavy semi traffic. The timetable for when the new building will be constructed is currently unknown, but Foundry officials felt it necessary to close the street as soon as they took possession in order to get people used to the change.
Anyone with questions about this or anything else to do with the City of Perry is encouraged to reach out to Perry City Hall at 515-465-2481.
