Jefferson Area Chamber Ambassadors at Junkyard Cafe ribbon-cutting
It was a chilly Friday, but that didn’t stop a successful grand opening for a newly named restaurant in Jefferson.
The Greene County Ambassadors were on-hand for the ribbon-cutting for the Junkyard Cafe. For Karla Holman, owning her own restaurant was a dream come true. She owns Junkyard Cafe along with Krystal Dzuris. Formerly known as Uptown Cafe, Holman said the new name, Junkyard, comes from when her father sold antiques and classic cars.
To that end, the new menu follows the theme with car names, along with different car parts. Holman said they re-did the floors and carpet areas, along with installing new tables and chairs, booths and added some new decor. Other improvements were moving the cash register to the front of the restaurant, and put the pie display near the front window.
Holman and Dzuris were former employees of Uptown Cafe and Holman notes the feedback has been positive and they see new faces. The duo bought the building from Ora Stevens. Serving hours are Monday-Thursday from 6am-2pm, Friday and Saturday from 6-8pm and Sunday from 7am-2pm.
