The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.

The meeting started with a presentation from the Des Moines office of the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, who were asking the Supervisors to approve a refugee admission consent request. The Board indicated they were supportive of the program, but tabled a decision until the State makes a decision on a similar request. Next, they approved subleasing the current driver’s license facility to the Iowa Department of Transportation, which will operate the function at 918 Court Street in Adel from this Thursday through January 21, 2020. At that time, the DOT will move the station to its new location in Waukee.

Following that, the Board approved the purchase of generators for the current jail facility and the courthouse. The total cost for the equipment and installation by Elite Electric and Utility is $118,019.43. Other items approved included the weed commissioner’s annual report and the abatement of mobile home taxes. The Supervisors also agreed there would be no regular meeting the week of Christmas, and that the meeting the week of New Years would be on Thursday, January 2nd. Finally, the Board approved the second canvass of the recent election, which included results for the cities and schools that cross county lines. There were no changes from the initial results.
