The annual Perry Election Day Chili Feed took place nearly two months ago, but its impact will be felt in the area for quite some time.
The Perry Kiwanis Club once again partnered with the Chamber of Commerce to host the event on November 5th, with all the proceeds pledged to the Tori’s Angels Foundation. Monday morning, Kiwanis Club member Katelyn Brelsford presented a check to the charitable organization in the amount of $2,426. The money will help Tori’s Angels support kids facing life-threatening medical challenges throughout Iowa, with several of the beneficiaries living in or around Dallas County.
Brelsford said she was pleased with the turnout for the Chili Feed and the community’s support for the fundraiser, especially in an off-year election that had a smaller voter turnout. She was glad they could support an organization like Tori’s Angels, which she felt has a very worthy cause. This is the second year the Perry Kiwanis Club and Chamber have partnered for the event. It’s the first time they’ve devoted the proceeds to a charitable organization, and Brelsford says that will likely continue in subsequent years.
