In a show of compassion for their opponent, the Perry School District has agreed to reschedule their varsity basketball games against Madrid that were originally slated for this Saturday.

The reason is so the Madrid community can attend the funeral services of 17-year-old Noah Moore, the high school student who died in a semi collision in Hardin County on December 30th. His two brothers, who were also in the vehicle, and the semi driver survived the crash. The memorial service is scheduled for Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Madrid Evangelical Free Church, which would have fallen during the school’s boys and girls varsity basketball doubleheader at Perry.

The two school districts talked about the situation, and considered postponing it to later that day. However, Perry Activities Director Tom Lipovac felt it would have been difficult for the Madrid players to have such a short turn around from the memorial to the game, so the schools agreed to reschedule it to Saturday, February 1st at 1 p.m. Lipovac tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the Perry School District understands the importance of the grieving process for the students, and they were more than willing to accommodate the Madrid community during the difficult time.
