Nevada swept a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference basketball doubleheader on their home court over Greene County on Tuesday night. The Cubs cruised to a 57-12 girls’ victory, followed by a boys’ win over the Rams by a final of 89-74. The doubleheader was heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradiio.com.

Kacie Rewerts scored all 16 of her points in the first half to pace the Cubs in the girls’ game.

Junior Sadie Wilson had five points to lead Greene County in scoring. The Rams had 20 of their 29 turnovers in the first half. They made just four of 27 field goal attempts including one three-point goal. Greene County is 0-8 on the season and 0-6 in Heart of Iowa action. The Cubs improved to 6-5 and 3-3.

Senior Carter Morton scored 24 points for the Rams in the boys’ game, but Tyler Sansgaard put 25 on the board for the Cubs. Both teams made 11 three-point shots after entering the game shooting under 30 percent from long range. Nevada led 31-15 in the second quarter before the Rams got to within three points in the third quarter at 52-49. The Cubs responded and won comfortably down the stretch to improve to 5-5 overall and 3-3 in the conference. The Rams have dropped six games in a row and are 0-6 in the league and 1-7 overall. Senior Caden Lowmiller scored a career best 18 points for the Rams and sophomore Bryce Stalder added 14 points, his new career high.
