Don’t forget: the Perry and Adel-DeSoto-Minburn speech teams are heading to Waukee today for the State Large Group Speech Contest, and the public is invited to attend.

Perry has three groups performing today, including their reader’s theater, titled “Fly Away Home,” and two ensemble acting pieces, titled “Allegory of Cats,” and “The Only Thing Between Me and Total Awesomeness.” ADM has nine entries participating, including: freshman improv acting, featuring Avery Miller, Bri Young, and Celia Kreifels; varsity improv, featuring Kale Kester, Grace Hatchitt, Max Weesner, and Seth Entriken; reader’s theater, titled “Skin”; choral reading, titled “Mi Amigo: Tony’s Tribute”; one act, titled “Swagger”; musical theater, from “Matilda”; TV News, titled “A Day in Florida”; short film, titled “Merry Christmas, Mary-Anne”; and group mime, titled “Teen Pregnancy.”

The State contest runs from 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. at Waukee High School. There is a suggested $3 entry fee for the public, which will go towards the host school. Entries that receive an overall “I” rating and judge’s recommendation will advance to the All-State Festival, to be held February 22nd at Iowa State University.
