The Perry Rotary Club presented their 2019 Civil Servant of the Year Award at the most recent City Council meeting, this year honoring Kevin McLaughlin.
Besides his work as the Building and Grounds Director for the Perry School District, McLaughlin serves as Deputy Chief for the Perry Volunteer Fire Department. The nomination came from Tom Lipovac, the Activities Director for Perry schools, whose letter described McLaughlin’s many contributions to the District and Perry community. The honor was presented at the meeting by current Perry Rotary Club President Dirk Cavanaugh.
McLaughlin, who will be retiring from the school district this May, expressed his gratitude to both the City and Rotary Club for the award. Nominees for the annual Civil Servant Award include those who work or volunteer in law enforcement, the fire department, ambulance squad, health care, human services, and other emergency services. Last year’s honoree was Clint Lutterman, Director of 21st Century Rehab at Dallas County Hospital.
