Greene County will be involved in Class 2A District wrestling in Atlantic at 12 p.m. today and in the opening round of Class 3A Regional tournament girls’ basketball in Gowrie vs. Southeast Valley at 5 p.m.

The Rams will have freshman McKinley Robbins (106), sophomore Brenner Gallagher (113), senior Will Hansen (160), and junior Sawyer Schiltz (220) competing for berths in the State Tournament Feb. 20-21-22 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Robbins is 32-1 and ranked second in 2A. He goes in as the Adel Sectional champion. Gallagher is 28-12, Hansen 27-11, and Schiltz 26-11, and all were runners-up at Adel. The top two finishers in each weight class today advance to State.

It’s the girls’ basketball Region 3 opener for Coach Tyler Westhoff’s girls as they take on the Jaguars of SEV. The Rams are 2-19 and SEV is 8-13. The winner advances while the losing team has its season come to an end.
