There were four Raccoon Valley Radio listening area schools with wrestlers at Saturday’s Class 2A District tournament in Atlantic and all four have State qualifiers.

Winters has five advancing to State with Greene County and Panorama each with two and one for ADM.

The lone ADM wrestler to get to the District is Kaden Sutton at 285. He’s ranked number one and won by a fall and a major decision to advance to Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines with a 36-1 record.

Panorama had two District qualifiers and both advance to State. Junior Wyatt Appleseth, ranked fourth at 152, is still unbeaten this season as he won the District title with a fall and a major decision to improve to 38-0. Senior Emry Colby was second at 160 and he moves on to State with a record of 38-6.

Greene County advanced second ranked McKinley Robbins at 106 lbs. and sophomore Brenner Gallagher at 113. Robbins is now 34-1 and has won 30 matches in a row after going 2-0 on Saturday. He’s ranked number two in 2A. Gallagher went 1-1 in Atlantic and placed second without having to wrestle back for second place. The other two Rams were senior Will Hansen, third at 160 lbs., and junior Sawyer Schiltz, fourth at 220 lbs.

Winterset has five wrestlers going to State. Senior Bryce Hatten, Kruise Kiburz, and Jack West, at 132, 138, and 145, respectively, all were District champions. Junior Tyler Brown was second at 152 and sophomore Brady Barringer won a second place wrestle back over Hansen from Greene County, 9-3, to advance.

Red Oak won the team title with Winterset second.

All three Raccoon Valley Radio stations will have complete play-by-play State Wrestling coverage Thursday, Friday, Saturday from Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines of nearly a dozen area schools.
