National FFA Week takes place now through this Saturday, and a local chapter celebrated with activities engaging their fellow students and the community last week.
The Panorama FFA chapter held an “Ag Olympics” during their advisory period last Wednesday, in which 6-12th grade students received hands-on experience on one of the aspects of FFA: evaluating different meats, cheese, and food sciences. The winning advisory class received points going towards a year-long advisory competition. On Thursday, the chapter hosted their annual community appreciation breakfast, which Chapter Reporter Claire Woodworth said had a great turnout, “FFA is a student run organization so it takes a lot of community support to run the organization and we like to show them all the things we do with their support. So giving back to the community is something we like to do for further support and stuff like that.”
National FFA Week serves as a time for members to host activities that raise awareness about the role FFA plays in the development of agriculture’s future leaders and the importance of agricultural education.
