The Dallas County Board of Supervisors convened Tuesday morning in regular session.

The meeting started early with a public hearing at 8 a.m. to present the Assessor’s fiscal year 2020-21 budget. No one objected, so the budget was approved as presented. The regular session began with approval of the 25th pay application for the law enforcement center project, in the amount of $412,476.19. The Board also got an update on construction, which is currently targeted to be complete by April 16th. At 9:30 the Supervisors held a second public hearing, this one to certify the maximum property tax dollars allowed for the general and rural levies. Following the hearing, the Board approved figures of $19 million and $3 million, respectively. They also approved the fiscal year 2021 budget for publication, and set a public hearing for March 24th at 7 p.m. to present it for final approval.

Other items approved included the first pay application for the DMACC classroom project at the Human Services Campus, in the amount of $27,075 to Cover’s Construction, as well as a proposal to remodel the Assessor’s office entrance, with the low bid of $7,340 from Clark Glass, Incorporated. The Supervisors also had discussion but no action on several topics, including: the City of West Des Moines’ proposed Sugar Creek stabilization project; a 28E agreement with Central Iowa Workforce Development, Region 11; the next meeting of the Greater Dallas County Development Alliance; the North Raccoon Watershed; New Opportunities of Dallas County; Zion Recovery Services; and pay plan changes and electronic timecards through the Human Resources Department.
