Champions Forever from BTF 2019

It’s a little more than three months until this year’s Bell Tower Festival in Jefferson and lots of plans are coming together.

Event Chair Philip Heisterkamp says this year’s theme is inspired by the “Mission Impossible” movie series.

“So it’s all geared towards, like the games on the (downtown) square will have a ‘Mission Impossible’ feel to it. So the games, they’re meant to be impossible, and if you can complete it on the spot, we’ll give you cash money on the spot for completing something seemingly impossible.”

Heisterkamp points out there will be a few returning acts that were successful from last year’s festival. Those include the dancing and drum corp Ississerties from Des Moines, along with the America’s Got Talent qualifier of Champions Forever doing their basketball-themed show. Heisterkamp adds, they will also bring back “Downtown at Sundown” Friday night of the festival with a family-friendly atmosphere.

Heisterkamp talks about how he sees volunteers helping with the festival this year.

“One thing that I’ve learned from experience is that repetitive meetings leads to burnout very quickly. So we’re trying to lead and organize things very differently this year. So it’s a lot of individual meetings and connecting people to work on specific projects. So if people are interested in just taking one job and not necessarily leading a committee, then the Bell Tower Festival is a place for you.”

If anyone is interested in helping out with the festival, contact Heisterkamp at Greater Life Chiropractic in Jefferson. The festival is June 12-13th.
