The Adel City Council will convene this evening in regular session.
The meeting will begin with a public hearing on the fiscal year 2020-21 budget. Following the hearing the Council will consider approving the budget as presented. There will also be a presentation by the Iowa State University graduate studio class on the downtown Adel 2020-2040 plan, and consideration of accepting the proposal. In old business, the Council will have discussion and possible action regarding an amendment to an ordinance related to all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles, and they may set a public hearing on the topic. They will also consider allocating $10,000 in economic development funding to the Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce, as well as a funding request from Heart of Iowa Regional Transit Authority (HIRTA).
In new business, the Council will consider a resolution directing the creation of a redevelopment plan and timeline for Island Park, which was closed to camping at their previous meeting. Other items on the agenda include: exercising the option to purchase property near the water tower; receipt and file of an annexation request east of the City; and lease agreements with the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn soccer club and youth football program. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. tonight in the Council chambers at Adel City Hall.
