The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

The Board heard an update from Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer. He gave reports on the downtown, city-owned buildings, the Jefferson Area Chamber and Jefferson Matters: Main Street potential merger, putting four walking trail projects out for bid and the county road relocation project for the airport.

The Board then approved the salary schedule and adopted the 2021 fiscal year budget, following a public hearing on the topic. They also approved the recommendation by the County Compensation Board for salaries for the elected county officials, including: six-percent raise for County Treasurer, five-percent for County Attorney, four-percent each for County Sheriff and Recorder and three-percent for each County Supervisor and the County Auditor. The Board voted 4-1 for the increases in salaries, with Supervisor Tom Contner as the “no” vote. He said he did not agree with some of the increases and could not justify taking a salary increase as a Supervisor. Board Vice-Chair Dawn Rudolph thought her committee and other responsibilities as a supervisor have increased and the salary raise was warranted.

Additionally, the Board approved hiring Cynthia Thurman as a part-time emergency medical technician at $17 per hour if she is with a patient and $4 per hour to be on-call, as well as Cole Jackson as a part-time ambulance driver for $10 per hour if driving an ambulance and $4 per hour to be on-call for the ambulance department.

Finally, the Supervisors approved the County Recorder’s report of fees for February of $13,975, the updated comprehensive solid waste management plan, four disallowances for family farm credits, and they also canvassed the votes from last week’s special Jefferson City Council election. The results were Pat Zmolek with 365 votes to Sean Sebourn’s 298 votes to fill a vacancy on the Council.
