novel-coronavirus

Adel-Desoto-Minburn School District is closed until April 13th and Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center and Panorama schools will not be holding classes Monday, following Governor Kim Reynolds’ recommendation that all Iowa schools close for four weeks due to spread of novel coronavirus 2019, or COVID-19.

Governor Reynolds’ recommendation follows the discovery of substantial community spread of the virus Saturday as the 18th positive COVID-19 case that came from a Dallas County resident between the ages of 61-80, has no determined origin of infection. Four additional cases have been notified to the Iowa Department of Public Health, bringing the total to 22. Reynolds states that based on information given Sunday from IDPH, it’s time to move to the next level of response. Two of the new cases are related to international travel, and the individuals are residents of Allamakee County. The other two cases are individuals from Johnson and Polk counties, and both indicate community spread.

Perry Superintendent Clark Wicks announced Sunday morning that all events and practices are cancelled until further notice. The district as well as West Central Valley School District are currently on spring break. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
