As we near the end of the first week having community spread of novel coronavirus 2019 in the State of Iowa, the Department of Public Health is taking stock of virus activity.
There have so far been 44 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 across the state, with the largest concentration being in Johnson County. Locally, there are five individuals who have tested positive in Dallas County, one in Adair, six in Polk, and one in Carroll. The IDPH points out there have been 642 negative tests for COVID-19, though that only includes testing done in the State Hygienic Lab, and not national laboratories. Of the positive tests, 25 have been female, and 19 are male. There is one patient under the age of 17, 10 between 18-40, 13 between 41-60, 18 between 61-80, and two 80 and older.
No coronavirus cases have resulted in death so far in Iowa, while nationally there have been 217 deaths. The situation is frequently changing, so listen to Raccoon Valley Radio for the latest updates on the COVID-19 pandemic. You can also click on the “Coronavirus” tab.
