Friday, March 20th

5:33am: An officer assisted workers with a sticking door lock at Congregate Meals, located at 401 Greenewood Road. The officer was able to gain access for the workers.

8:38am: Officers assisted with Traffic Control in the 700 Block of South Elm Street. A propane delivery truck had mechanical issues.

11:00am: Regina Kilcrease reported receiving Unwanted Contact by text messages and Facebook. The officer advised her to block the subjects.

2:41pm: Nathan Hubbs requested an officer at 806 West Washington Street for a Family Argument. The officer was able to mediate the group through the issue.

4:49pm: Joy Fox reported receiving Unwanted Contact by text message. She blocked the subject.

5:59pm: A Traffic Stop at 220th and M Ave. resulted in Blayne Majors of Boone being cited for Excessive Speed.”

9:39pm: A Traffic Stop in the 300 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Kyle Hack of Jefferson being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

Saturday, March 21st

1:33am: An officer checked on a parked motorist near 220th and M Ave. The subject was a Tired Driver taking a break from driving.

2:09am: Jacob Thomas reported a Stray Dog near 220th and Elm Streets. The officer did not locate the reported animal.

3:39pm: Hy Vee provided an officer with video of the Theft of Alcohol from 106 West Washington Street. The Theft had occurred on March 18, 2020. The officer is investigating.

7:02pm: Officers were requested at 1300 Southfield Drive for a reported Domestic Argument. The officers worked to diffuse the situation and determined nothing of a physical nature had occurred.

7:29pm: An officer checked on a Lifeline call from 1000 West Washington Street. It was an accidental alarm, and all was fine.

7:49pm: A Traffic Stop in the 200 Block of East State Street resulted in Lucas Woods of Des Moines being cited for, “Driving While Suspended and Fraudulent Use of Registration.”

Sunday, March 22nd

2:22am: Rochelle Smith reported a Suspicious Vehicle in the area of Southfield Drive. The officer determined it to be a newspaper delivery person.

1:45am: An officer was flagged down in the 600 Block of North Cedar Street and advised of a female lying in a nearby yard. The officer made contact with the intoxicated female and had her go back inside the residence.

12:08pm: A Traffic Stop in the 1400 Block of West Wood resulted in Matthew Saddoris of Jefferson being cited for, “Dark Windows.”

12:46pm: Zara Emmick reported a Barking Dog in the 300 Block of West Lincoln Way Street. The officer made contact with the owner and warned them about the issue. The officer also gave the owner a time period to become compliant with Animal Licensing.

7:43pm: A Traffic Stop at 220th and Oakland resulted in Quinn Sonntag of Windsor Heights being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

******** An officer completed a Burglary investigation that began on 01/01/2020, at 700 West State Street. Fingerprints gathered at the residence after the reported Burglary have been identified by the DCI Crime Lab in Ankeny. Arrest Warrants have been requested for Yasday Sorter, 29 of Des Moines for, “Burglary 2nd Degree – C Felony and Theft 2nd Degree – D Felony. Sorter was an early suspect in the case and the fingerprint match confirmed the other evidence in the matter.

******** Test results came back positive on items seized during a Traffic Stop on 03/04/2020. The officer has requested an Arrest Warrant for Julie Ann Bentz, 20 of Jefferson for, “Possession of Controlled Substance/Marijuana 1st Offense – Serious.”
