Iowans working in the creative sector may want to seek financial resources during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs has been curating a list of resources for artists, musicians, cultural organizations, and small businesses to help navigate the next few months. This includes emergency grants from the New Music Solidarity Fund, whose application deadline is April 30th, state grants for cultural projects whose application deadline ranges from April 15 through May 1st, as well as the Iowa Economic Development Authority’s Targeted Small Business Sole Operator Fund whose application deadline is April 10th.
In the meantime, those who would like to support arts and culture are encouraged to buy a membership or season tickets to a local arts and cultural nonprofit, such as the Guthrie County Arts Council; donate the cost of cancelled event tickets back to the particular venue, or shop online for art and music created by local artists.
