New guidance from the Iowa Department of Public Health outlines what churches can and cannot do to conduct services.

Due to Governor Kim Reynolds public health emergency proclamation, churches were closed to the public to adhere to the social distance practice of not having gatherings of more than ten people. However, IDPH says churches can have drive-in services as long as everyone abides by the recommendations. These include having all attendees stay in their vehicle, and all windows, sunroofs and convertible tops must remain closed during the service. No more than ten people are allowed in one vehicle and those in the vehicle should be limited to members of the same household. During the service, there should be church officials or law enforcement available as appropriate measures to be taken for compliance with the restrictions.

Additionally, communion or food and drink should not be distributed before, during or after the service and offering should not be collected in-person. IDPH suggests having a drop box for people to give their offering to the church or via the internet.
