The City of Adel has enacted a number of policies in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and they ask residents to abide by them until the threat has diminished.

First, a temporary burn ban is now in effect within City limits, in an effort to limit the diversion of first responder resources. Open burn permits can now only be obtained from the Adel Fire Department, but City staff encourages residents to take advantage of the free yard waste pickup program every Tuesday instead. In that same vein, the City has postponed the annual garage sales, spring cleanup, and hazardous waste collection indefinitely. Another change is the pet license registration deadline has been extended through June 30th.

As a reminder, Adel has also closed all City buildings and offices through at least the end of April, though staff is still on hand to answer phone calls and emails. All water meter shutoffs and late fees are temporarily suspended, and utility payments should be made online or over the phone. Additionally, all playground equipment and shelter houses in public parks are off limits, though the parks themselves are still open.
