The Bock Family Foundation in Perry is doubling down on donations they made in April, by once again providing funds to local food pantries and child care centers.
The Foundation announced they were donating a total of $12,000 to supplement the resources of the critical services that have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The food pantries in Adel, Perry, Stuart, and Waukee each received $2,000, as did the Acorns and Oaks Daycare and PRESBY Child Care Center in Perry. The money will be used to refill the shelves that have been depleted to dangerously low levels levels due to the community need for food assistance, and to help the daycares replenish cleaning supplies.
The $2,000 each was on top of $3,000 to the food pantries and $1,000 to the child care centers, which the Bock Foundation awarded in early April. Foundation Manager Scott Finneseth said the Foundation Board wanted to do something to help people beyond their community grants, and felt supporting the local food banks and daycares was a good place to start. Their example also led to the Dallas County Foundation donating $3,000 each to six area food pantries in April.
