One Jefferson non-profit organization managed to adjust an annual event due to COVID-19, while still continuing a spring-time tradition.
Thomas Jefferson Gardens recently held a virtual plant sale. Board member and organizer Jean Walker says they sold 384 annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs and shrubs. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio the sale was done via Facebook and their website and the most popular item was lavender, a perennial.
People can pick up their purchases this week at the Gardens location on East Lincoln Way. You can enter the alleyway from the east in the south side of the building and drive to the south gates. Signs will be posted to assist you where to go. Pick up times will be from 11am-4pm tomorrow, 11am-5:30pm Friday and 9am on Saturday. Board members will be there to verify your purchase and put the plants directly into your vehicle. Board members will also wear masks to follow the Centers for Disease Control COVID-19 guidelines.
Walker adds, the proceeds from this sale will be used to purchase additional plants for the gardens, along with all of the seeds that are used to grow their vegetables.
