2:27am: An officer performed a Traffic Stop in the 1500 Block of North Elm Street with a vehicle that had a headlight out. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Christopher David Spaulding, 53 of Jefferson for, “OWI 2nd Offense – Aggravated.”

10:04am: Sandra Miner reported receiving the “Grandparent Scam Phone Call.” She recognized the call as a scam and did not give out any information.

12:04pm: Tina Peck reported a Fight in Progress at 307 West Lincoln Way Street. The officers arrived and made contact with a couple in Apartment #3. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Austin Tylor O’Connell, 21 of Jefferson for, “Domestic Abuse Assault 1st Offense – Serious and Disorderly Conduct/Fighting – Simple.”

4:55pm: Macy Vanderhoof reported her vehicle was struck while parked in the 800 Block of West Washington Street. The 2016 Chevrolet Equinox had a reported $1500.00 in damages. The officer is investigating and attempting to locate the other vehicle involved.

6:25pm: Jamie Ganoe reported a Barking Dog at 306 West Reed Street. Officers have issued Verbal Warnings in the past to the animal’s owner about the issue. A Citation was issued to Gerrick Smith of Jefferson for, “Barking Dog/Annoyance.”

6:36pm: Dave Morlan reported a group of kids in the shelter house at Russell Park. The officer stopped and explained the Governor’s Proclamation closing the shelter house due to Covid 19. The youngster’s apologized and went on their way.

******** Arrest Warrants have been requested for Justin Joe Downs, 34 of Churdan for, “Domestic Abuse Assault 1st Offense – Simple, Criminal Mischief 3 rd Degree – Aggravated, Theft 4th Degree – Serious, and Assault/Causing Bodily Injury – Serious.” The charges are from an investigation started on 05/09/2020. Brittany Smith reported the subject had entered her residence at 304 North Chestnut Street and stole items after assaulting her and a male that was also present.
