
While we’re now halfway through the month of May, the Raccoon Valley Radio-listening area has seen record high and low temperatures so far.
According to the National Weather Service, May got off to a warmer start this year, as Guthrie Center saw a record high of 80 degrees on May 1st, and Jefferson and Perry each had record highs of 83 and 82, respectively on May 2nd. Temperatures then took a dip for the next couple weeks, as the three cities all saw record lows on May 9th with Guthrie Center at 33 degrees, and Jefferson and Perry both at 31. For precipitation, so far Guthrie Center has received about 1.58 inches of rain while the monthly normal is 2.17, Jefferson has received 0.6 inches while the normal is 2.19, and Perry has received 1.01 inches as the normal is 2.26.
