We are now less than two months until the new high school and career academy project for the Greene County School District is anticipated to be completed, and it appears that is still the case.
Owner’s Representative for the school district Sam Harding says both buildings along south Highway 30 and west of Highway 4 are expected to be done by August 1st. Contractors are currently installing finishings in the high school and career academy. As for the gym,. Harding says the large items left include the wooden floor installation and one that has hit a snag.
“We do have a COVID(-19) concern in the gym right now. The bleacher manufacturer’s factory is in New York and it is still shut down. So we’re not sure when we’re getting bleachers for that, but they would be a simple thing to install once they’re here. They wouldn’t affect the rest of the finishes, they are already finished. Whenever they get here, we’ll put those in.”
Harding says a lot of work is left in the auditorium, but in the original contract, that structure is scheduled to be done by October 1st. He adds the District is developing an updated 360-degree virtual tour for people to see the completed work inside the new high school and career academy online.
