One person was injured after a collision between a pick up truck and a maintenance grader southwest of Coon Rapids Monday morning.

According to Iowa State Patrol, at about 9:49 a.m. 29-year-old Tyler John Dentlinger of Coon Rapids was driving a grader eastbound on 110th Street west of Birch Avenue with its warning lights activated. Dentlinger was approaching a bridge when he saw an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado and was unable to avoid it, and the pickup truck collided with the rear of the grader. The second driver, 80-year-old Russell Clayton Heck of Coon Rapids was mechanically extricated from the vehicle and was transported by Emergency Medical Services to St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll for treatment of serious injuries. Heck was cited for failure to maintain control, and minor damage was estimated to the bridge. Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
