A Jefferson non-profit organization has jumpstarted it’s fundraising efforts with a series of free-will donation meals.

The Jefferson Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post #9599 and the VFW Auxiliary are hosting two such events tomorrow and on June 18th. Tomorrow’s meal will include hot beef sundaes with mashed potatoes and gravy, corn or green beans and a dessert. On June 18th, the meal will be country fried steak with gravy, mashed potatoes, corn or green beans and a dessert. Due to COVID-19, the VFW is offering the meals for take out or delivery only. If you enter the building, you must wear a face mask otherwise there will be curbside service available.

VFW Post Commander James Wasson says the pandemic has forced them to cancel several fundraising events, but they are hoping to continue to serve fundraiser meals every two weeks. He is also making masks for $6. He says he’s made 90 masks so far and those needing a mask may contact the VFW via email, Facebook or phone call.

To receive a meal, contact the Jefferson VFW at 515-230-6793. Deliveries are for Jefferson residents only.
