In addition to the recent cancellation of the annual Sweet Corn Festival, the Adel Partners Chamber of Commerce has also nixed their first two scheduled Rock’N Friday events of the summer.
One was supposed to happen in May, and the second was scheduled for next week, but both were cancelled due to ongoing concerns with COVID-19. Chamber Director Deb Bengtson is hopeful that the concerts scheduled for July and August will take place, and she notes that if they do there will still be options for those still wanting to social distance. “If we go forward with a Rock’N Friday, I know it will also become a Facebook Live event. So if people still aren’t comfortable with coming to the (Adel) Stage and Pavilion in July, they’ll be able to stay at home and watch it on Facebook. We’re just sort of walking through all of those thoughts right now.”
The Chamber held an online concert in April that was well-attended, and Bengtson says doing that for Rock’N Friday is still a possibility if they can effectively plan ahead. The free concert series is typically held once a month from May-September at the Adel Stage and Pavilion, located at the corner of Main and 10th streets.
