A weekend two vehicle collision resulted in minor injuries in Grand Junction.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy and the Grand Junction Fire and Rescue responded to the wreck at 5:35pm Friday at Highway 30 and 16th Street North. Fifty-seven-year-old Juan Joel Garza of Goodell was traveling west on Highway 30 in a 2002 Toyota Sienna. When he attempted to turn left onto 16th Street North, he was struck by a eastbound 2017 Chevrolet Silverado that was driven by 27-year-old Mathu Franklin Meiners of Alta.

The impact sent both vehicles into the southeast ditch. Two passengers from Garza’s vehicle suffered minor injuries and were transported to the Greene County Medical Center by Grand Junction Fire and Rescue. Garza and Meiners were not injured. Meiners’ Chevy Silverado truck sustained $8,000 in damage and Garza’s Toyota Sienna had $2,500 in damage. Garza was cited for failure to yield upon a left turn.
