A Woodward man recently took home a $30,000 prize by playing an Iowa Lottery scratch game.

Gregory Chiri played the “Bonus Crossword” scratch game, and won the $30,000 grand prize on a card he purchased from A.J.’s Grocery in Woodward. Chiri was the 45th individual since the game’s inception last year to win one of the 144 top prizes. He claimed his winnings Monday at the Iowa Lottery headquarters in Clive.

Lottery officials note that the “Bonus Crossword” game is $3 per card, and players have 1-in-3 odds of winning a prize of some size. The odds of winning the $30,000 grand prize as Chiri did are 1-in-120,000.
