The Guthrie Center City Council approved signing a developer agreement for a Community Catalyst Building Remediation grant at their meeting Monday.

The agreement was signed as the City applied for the $100,000 grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority, and will now be sent to the Main Street Guthrie Center Board of Directors for their approval as the organization owns the Williams Building that will go under a $300,000 renovation for upper level apartment housing. The Council also heard proposals from Becky Benton of State Street Insurance and Rod Rumelhart of Rumelhart Financial Services to be the City’s EMC Insurance representative. Rumelhart Financial Services is contracted to be the City’s representative until this October, and the Council took no action on the item. Finally, the Board reappointed Steve Boscom, Jessica Langgaard and Dale Menning to the Mary J. Barnett Memorial Library Board.
