
The Perry City Council met Monday evening.
The Council started the meeting by approving a trio of change orders regarding the McCreary Community Center improvement project. This project is heading toward the final stretch and the Council expects to have the facility reopened this fall. Then three community members addressed the Council in the open forum to share their thoughts about fireworks in the City of Perry. There were people who spoke both in favor and in opposition of fireworks in City limits.
The Council also accepted a Community Catalyst and Building Remediation Grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority which will go towards assisting in the renovation of the Morgan Building on 2nd Street. The following resolution the City approved a resolution with Nudgers Inc. for them to oversee the project.
The Council then approved a resolution regarding the consideration of bids for the purchase of the City’s General Obligation Corporate Purpose Bonds. The winning bid came in at over $4 millions dollars and with less than 1% interest. This bond will not raise any taxes.
