Guthrie County residents with environmentally-sensitive property are reminded they can file a no-spray request to the Secondary Roads Department.
This spring the department released a new request form the public can fill out and submit if they wish to protect property used for organic crops, bees, grape production, or other uses. Guthrie County Engineer Josh Sebern says they’ve been off to a slow start in receiving these requests, “I’d like to see some more traction with that, I’d like to see more movement because it makes it easier for us to spray. We’re out spraying right now, we are out actively spraying, we are investigating the need to contract spray. There’s things that we don’t know, we can’t see, we don’t know certain things. Some things we do know but some things we don’t. It would sure be nice if that would be utilized more so then we know who wants their areas sprayed and who doesn’t, so we can work with landowners as best as possible.”
Sebern reminds the public that this service previously was offered through the state but is now under the county’s control. For a link to the no spray request form, visit this story at raccoonvalleyradio.com
