A Webster City man was recently sentenced to prison for an incident in Greene County.
Greene County Attorney Thomas Laehn tells Raccoon Valley Radio, 33-year-old Brett Adams pled guilty to a Class C Felony for first degree theft and he was sentenced to ten years in prison.
The charge stemmed from an incident on April 24th. Adams took pictures of a skid loader that was on the victim’s property in the 600 block of N Avenue. He then sold the equipment online for $9,000 when it was valued at $15,000. Laehn commends the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, and in particular Sergeant Shane Allen, for their investigation. He says the Sheriff’s Office uncovered a multi-county burglary ring by connecting the dots between a number of unsolved burglaries in the county. Laehn points out he was proud to prosecute this strong case due to the working relationship with the Sheriff’s Office.
Adams was additionally charged with Class D Felonies for second and third degree theft from another April incident. Due to the plea agreement, those charges were dismissed, but Adams was ordered to pay $30,780 in victim restitution.
