The Stuart Fire Department was called to respond to a small fire at the Community Care Center nursing facility Monday morning.

According to the department, they were called at about 6:30 a.m. to investigate a fire in the assisted living section of the facility. Upon arrival there was smoke present in one room, and the firefighters found smoldering insulation above the bathroom ceiling. The insulation was removed to reveal a charring rafter. No injuries occurred and residents were able to be placed in another room. The department applauds the quick actions of the staff that slowed the spread of the fire and for the timely evacuation of the residents.
