The Jefferson Public Library invites everyone to participate in this year’s Greene County Reads program.

This year’s book is “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott. It is a fictional story about four sisters who lived during the Civil War and what life was like for them. Jefferson Library Director Jane Millard says the book is loosely based on Alcott’s real life with her three sisters. The county-wide book discussion will take place at three of the county libraries on September 17th. The discussions will begin at 9am at the Paton Public Library, the Grand Junction Library at 2pm and the Jefferson Library will host their discussion at the Jefferson Community Golf Course Clubhouse at 7pm.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, each event will be held either in-person or electronically through Zoom, the video conferencing app. Millard suggests contacting one of the libraries to receive information on how to attend the discussion electronically. The program is free and open to the public, and copies of the book can be found at your local library. The 14th annual Greene County Reads is co-sponsored by the Greene County Libraries Association and the Greene County Board of Supervisors.
