A new sign has been placed near the Mahanay Memorial Carillon Tower in Jefferson that recognizes those who donated funds to purchase the full 47-bell carillon in 2017.
The Bell Tower Community Foundation created the sign, which includes the history of the bells, along with who purchased each bell and an inscription. The “Let the Bells Ring” campaign was completed in 2017 when all of the bells were installed on top of the structure. The interpretive sign is located right outside of the bell tower, so community members and visitors alike can see it regardless if the tower is open.
The sign was installed by the Greene County Engineer’s Office.
