Cheryl Voelker’s 2020 Dallas Center-Grimes Volleyball team began practice in the past week, and through the early going of the season, although different and cumbersome, things have gone as well as could be expected.

Additional sanitizing procedures, social distancing practices, and masks are all a part of the guidelines put into place by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.  Most coaches believe they can contain any spread of Covid-19 with some effectiveness within their own squad, but when school returns to in-class session later this month a new challenge will present itself.

Although the future of the season may be uncertain, Voelker and her girls plan to make the most of every day of the season they have; both in practice and competition.

Following a 15-3 season in 2019, and just one match shy of the State Tournament, the Fillies return some notable talent for the 2020 season, including a promising incoming Junior class.

DC-G Volleyball is set to begin their 2020 campaign later this month.
