Following the graduation of record-setting quarterback Brent Riley, the Greene County football team will have someone new at the controls of the offense. Head coach Caden Duncan told Raccoon Valley Radio the two candidates for the varsity spot are juniors Joe Carey and Bryce Stalder. Both are versatile athletes who play multiple sports.

The coach said Carey has primarily been a quarterback who has worked some at receiver in previous seasons, while Stalder has mostly been a receiver who has seen spot duty at QB. “They’re both really good athletes and whichever one isn’t playing quarterback will like likely be on the field as a receiver, and both should see time defensively in our secondary.” The coach said he prefers to have one starting quarterback and not use a two QB system as long as both are healthy.

The Rams have a seven game regular season schedule, down from the usual nine games due to COVID-19 concerns. Greene County will open the season on Aug. 28 in Perry at Dewey Field vs. the Blue Jays in the next chapter in the “Annual Battle for the Cowbell.” The game can be heard on KG98, as well as KDLS 1310 AM and 99.7 FM, and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
