Greene County is in week two of high school Fall sports practices. Activities Director Todd Gordon said being able to adjust is going to be key moving forward due largely, but not entirely due to COVID-19. “I think it’s a matter of our kids getting used to the protocols we’ve put in place for practice. Getting used to wearing masks more than what some have been used to is one thing. We have a lot of kids that played baseball and softball in the summer, but we have a lot of kids that did not play those sports. We have coaches who haven’t coached through this as well, so we’ve got to get used to procedures.”

On top of that, the new high school gym isn’t ready yet, so the volleyball team is practicing for the time being in the elementary building’s gym. “We don’t have a school right now. We don’t have a place to lay our head, put our equipment right now. We’re displaced because of some other factors. I really appreciate our coaches and our kids. They’re adapting, and that’s what you do. You adapt and you overcome!”

Also, the Aug. 10 storm did sufficient damage to the Jester Park Golf Course that Woodward-Granger has cancelled their coed cross-country meet scheduled for Aug. 24. Greene County was to have been in that meet, but it now is cancelled.
