The start of the 2020 Iowa high school football season is just three days away. Greene County opens the seven game regular season (shortened due to COVID-19 concerns) at Perry against the Blue Jays at Dewey Field. It’s the renewal of one of Iowa’s oldest rivalries and trophy games.

Caden Duncan is in his second season heading the football program for Greene County. Bryce Pierce is in his first season and Coach Duncan talks about preparing for Perry. “With a new coach and new program at Perry, there’s only so much we can prepare for. We’re trying to prepare and get ourselves ready as best as we can. We want to work out the kinks and make sure we’re executing the best that we can. Then, we’ll cast kind of a wide net and preparing for a lot of different things so that we are ready for that week one game because we’re not 100% sure what we might see.”

Greene County at Perry can be heard on Friday night with coverage at 6:45 p.m. and kickoff set for 7:15 p.m. For the Greene County perspective, tune to KGRA 98.9 FM. For the Perry perspective, it’s 1310 AM KDLS and 99.7 FM. The contest will also be streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
