The Guthrie County Republicans are inviting the public to attend an event at Mitchell Park in Guthrie Center this Saturday.

The group will be serving a meal of burgers, hot dogs, chips, and bottled water from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. in the shelter house for a freewill donation. County Chair Paul Hawkins says this is the first time they’re holding such an event, “Normally we are at every parade, we have a float we’ve made up that really looks nice. And since we’ve had no parades this year we decided to do something to let the candidates get in front of people and talk with them.”

Hawkins expects State Senator Jake Chapman to attend the event, and the group has contacted several other candidates on the general election ballot to attend as well. Participants are asked to practice social distancing at the event and bring your own chairs if desired.
