AC/GC will open their gates in Guthrie Center for the first time this season.

Woodward-Granger comes to town boasting a 2-0 record on the young season. Both teams had a good year last season finishing 6-3. Neither team made the cut to qualify for the playoffs, although AC/GC did finish higher in the RPI standings. While it’s a completely different season, one thing has been constant for AC/GC and that’s their powerful running attack. Through two weeks AC/GC’s 621 rushing yards ranks 6th in Class 1A. Their nine rushing touchdowns ranks fourth, just two shy of the lead.

If they want to earn their second win of the year, and start the district season undefeated, they’ll have to step up defensively as the Hawks have scored 12 offensive touchdowns, second in Class 1A. The passing attack for Woodward-Granger has been solid as senior quarterback Trevor Simmons has 293 yards through the air and throwing three touchdowns to Christian Husmann.
