A Bayard man has been sentenced to prison for incidents that occurred last February.

According to court documents, 35-year-old William Ray Bonar is convicted of possession of marijuana third or subsequent offense, two counts of felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of methamphetamine third or subsequent offense, all class D felonies. Bonar is sentenced to serve no more than five years in prison for each of the offenses, all to be served concurrently. He must pay $3,000 in fines with a 15% statutory surcharge and restitution. Two counts of unlawful possession of a prescription drug, a serious misdemeanor, were dismissed.

These sentences stem from a February 23rd incident when Guthrie County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Bonar at his residence on outstanding warrants for probation violation and drug charges. A search warrant was later executed at his home which resulted in further charges, related to a series of thefts and burglaries that allegedly occurred at Sparky’s One Stop in Bayard.
