Despite some measurable rainfall this week, there has been little change to drought conditions in the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, all of Greene and Guthrie counties, along with the northwestern two-thirds of Dallas County, are under an extreme drought. Additionally, the southeastern third of Dallas County is experiencing a severe drought.
According to the National Weather Service as of Thursday, Jefferson has had 2.56 inches of precipitation, and they have exceeded their normal monthly amount of rainfall for September of 1.07 inches. Guthrie Center has seen 2.53 inches of rain this month, surpassing their average total of 1.17 inches. Perry reports 2.14 inches of rain so far this month, which is more than their average total of 1.14 inches.
