Iowa corn crops are denting quicker than usual.

According to the latest Crop Progress and Condition report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, corn is 94% in or beyond dent stage, more than two weeks ahead of last year’s pace and four days ahead of this time last year. Around two-thirds of corn has reached maturity, three weeks ahead of last year, and more than seven days compared to the five-year average. Corn harvest has reached four-percent throughout the State, 17 days ahead of last year. Corn condition remained steady compared to last week at 42% good-to-excellent.

Around 90% of soybeans are coloring or beyond, two-weeks quicker than this time last year. Two-thirds of the crop has begun dropping leaves, one week ahead of the five-year average. Around 7% of harvest has been completed, 17 days ahead of last year’s pace, and six days ahead of average. Soybean condition was rated 48% good to excellent.
