The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors approved two items for the Secondary Roads Department at their meeting Tuesday.

County Engineer Josh Sebern presented a contract that the Board approved to enter into with Benner Tiling and Dozing for an aluminum box culvert project. The second was to award a contract for a Hungry Canyons bridge replacement and weir project. The Board opened separate bids for the bridge and for the weirs from three different contractors last week, and Sebern recommended the lowest bid from Murphy Heavy Contracting. Their bids submitted were of $199,359 for the bridge and $242,893 for the weirs. Sebern then gave a general update, “Just letting you know we’re on Sage Trail still plugging away. It’s going good, we got the first phase I think complete, onto the next, regraded a short section and then we’re going to start on the east-west portion of Sage today, I’m sure they’re shaping that, pulling shoulders and getting the road built back up.”

Sebern said that work on Sage Trail is expected to be finished next week, and the one element that has slowed down their progress is equipment failure from their roller.
